Why travellers message you instead of booking - and how to fix it

A booking by message is three questions and a wait. Most of them happen on a phone, in the evening. What a traveller needs to see to book there and then.

The three questions

Almost every tour enquiry is the same three questions:

  • "Is there space on Saturday?"
  • "How much for four of us?"
  • "How do I pay?"

Each one is a message, and each message is a wait. If you are out on a tour, that can be hours. By then some people have booked something else.

Answer them on the page

  • Space: show the dates and departure times that are open, and only those.
  • Price: show the price per person, and the total as they choose the group size - no price to type out and send.
  • Payment: a card payment on the page, with a confirmation email straight away.

Say what happens next on the confirmation: the pickup or meeting point, the time, what to bring, and how to reach you.

Keep WhatsApp for questions

Some people will still message. Answer them as you do today - and send the link to the tour, so the booking finishes itself.

Try it yourself

Tonight, on your phone, try to book your own most popular tour for four people next Saturday. Count the steps, and note every point where you would have to message and wait. That list is your fix list.
